SUNY Fredonia Spray Foam Wall Insulation
SUNY Fredonia (Houghton Hall) underwent a complete "gutting" of the building interior for a complete renovation of the student facility.
The basement walls were poured concrete and the college wanted spray foam insulation sprayed between metal studs to eliminate the cold transmission through the walls into the heated space prior to installing drywall as a finished product. In addition to the basement walls being sprayed, all of the steel columns on the 1st and 2nd floors were insulated with spray foam.
The project also required an application of Intumescent "Thermal (fire) Barrier" be applied during Phase I as protection of the foam prior to the start of Phase II where welding and cutting would occur.
Due to the time of the year the foam was being applied and there being no heat in the building, a winter grade of foam was utilized to keep the project on-schedule.
